Losing the plot in London

One New Years Eve my life got a little bit messy, a good friend whom I was fully engaged with in a drug fuelled bromance at the time planned a big night out on ecstasy to mark the turn of the year. Some friends of ours who were really skint were running a cloakroom at a rave in a film studio in Vauxhall, it was to be our final destination and we wanted to be there before midnight but before then we had a whole evening to spend running around the city.

Scripping Drugs in Sixties London

Bayer Heroin advertisment

I first used Heroin in 1963, I was 18 years old I had previously used hashish and amphetamine and was interested in all drugs.  I had read Cocteau, De Quincy, Kerouac and Boroughs and was ready to try new experiences.  I met a junkie called Gaoler and after much persuasion he agreed to share his ‘scrip’.

A Brief Drug History

We can learn so much by sharing views and experiences on drugs. I was part of the Sixties generation and experimented with about every drug that was available. The first acid trip that I took was when LSD was so new on the scene that it was legal. Some drugs have extraordinary effects and can give insight in to the very nature of reality and consciousness. I remember in those days avidly reading Aldous Huxley’s Doors of Perception and Timothy Leary. I also remember when I was on an acid trip being transfixed when I looked at the most exquisite pattern on the pavement.
