Death sentences for drug use in SE Asia

Today, another man was sentenced to death for drug trafficking in Singapore. Some of the toughest laws for drug-related offenses exist in South East Asia, where the possession of small quantities of illegal drugs can become lethal. However, in some countries, such as Malaysia, drug use has continued to rise in spite of the death penalty.
On March 4th, the European Coalition for Just and Effective Drug Policies (ENCOD) will be protesting outside the Malaysian embassy for an end to the death penalty for drug-related offenses in Malaysia and other countries. The protest has been timed to take place right before the annual meeting of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna.
