Indentifying drug abusers
This video harks back to an innocent age when a mass culture of illicit drug use seemed to be a new phenomena. The idea that police and other authorities would need to be educated about how to spot drugs and drug users seems very strange, we are now inundated with images of drug use in popular culture even if we have no personal experience of drug use ourselves.
Why did this change happen? What were the drivers for this change? Does it represent a change in perception or a real change? The history of the 'war on drug' is very confusing.
Did prohibition and the consequent creation of an illegal market with huge potential for profit create the criminals who 'pushed' drugs at a vulnerable and unsuspecting public?
Or did the 'permissive' values of the baby boomers weaken the moral fibre of successive generations to such an extent that they gave in and embraced drugs, sex and rock and roll?
Questions, questions, questions......
