My last drink

My last drink

Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug in the world and has been used for over 6000 years. Unlike tobacco and other controlled substances, alcohol in recent times has largely remained free from government regulation. The result has been the normalization of alcohol into the heart of society, whereby most peoples method of relaxing or having a good time on the weekend involves drinking. When one considers the social and economic cost alcohol abuse impacts on society, this is something that needs to be examined.

My last drink

I was in South Africa up on the garden route with one of my cousins enjoying myself with a vodka and cream soda concoction which my cousin had ‘invented’. Despite the highly suspect light green colour of the drink it actually tasted quite nice. Whilst sipping my third glass of the stuff I came up with an idea about what present to get my aunt, she had after all been the person who had let me stay with her for the past week.

My last drink got me thinking

I usually drink when am sad or happy, by myself or with friends. The drink usually puts me in that place, a good place depending on how much I drink. Most of the times I drink depending on the surroundings, I tend to drink little when am by myself and a lot more when I am with friends I truly trust. If am in a bad place all of a sudden I light up, something about my last drink got me thinking. What made me trust my friends that they will look out for me if by the end of the night we were all the same, drunk?

My last drink: A teenagers perspective

Well the average teenager doesn’t know much about drinking or being drunk. Some have a naughty swig of a vodka bottle now and then just too have that rush that they all crave, you know the rush, the rush were you go out with a couple of mates, have a laugh, drinking, smoking and maybe some drugs, who knows. I know this feeling, this rush, mainly because I am a teenager. I know shocking, why is a teenager writing about his last drink or drinking in general. Well unlike the usual teen I have done much more.

My last drink: An alcoholic by definition

My last drink was not too long ago funnily enough. After all alcohol is the only drug that you can take without fear of being arrested, only if you’re over 18 that is. Personally I’m not really a fan of alcohol, although I know a few of us may not be here if it wasn’t for it – I think perhaps the only reason that I do drink alcohol on average two to three times a week is that its so widely accepted and part of british culture.
