Nice people take drugs

Release, the campaigning organisation that specialises in drugs and drugs law, is running an advert campaign on London buses during June. With the slogan ‘Nice People Take Drugs’, Release is looking to open up the drugs debate and engage the public in a more sophisticated and honest drugs dialogue.
Explaining why Release was moved to run this campaign, executive director Sebastian Saville said, “the constant association by politicians and the media of drugs with words like evil and shame simply does not reflect most people’s experience of drugs. The public is tired of the artificial representation of drugs in society, which is not truthful about the fact that all sorts of people use drugs. If we are to have a fair and effective drug policy, it must be premised on this reality first and foremost.”
With this campaign, Release believes it can shift the debate on drugs and bring about more effective and safer drug policy.

Nice people take drugs
My question is that when teens take drugs isn't that bad for them. During their growing up years teens need to be protected from drugs. They are new and succumb to drugs as its thought to be a fad for them. The end result is that they end up in drug rehab centers or residential treatment center.

Misinformation
Alistair,
Most teens who experiment with drugs don't end with any problems what so ever. This is a fact. Some teens do have problems, I suspect that they would have had problems whether they had experimented with drugs or not.
That is why promoting responsible use is so important.

That's a more personal approach and I am confident that it will have more chances of success, people respond better to a more empathic campaign. I am surprised they didn't try this before, some addiction treatment centers already practice that and the results do all the talking.

about time too
This sort of thing is well overdue. It is crazy that so little is said about drugs, especially considering how far and wide they are involved in so many aspects of social policy - education, health, youth, crime, economics, trade.... i mean, when was the last time you heard a senior politician talking about drugs? what are they all so afraid of? let's get the country talking.
