Ex-cop’s son to hang for ganja trafficking

The son of a retired policeman was sentenced to the gallows by the High Court after he was found guilty of trafficking ganja (cannabis) weighing 2.3 kilogrammes, two years ago.
Judge Datuk Abdul Rahim Uda handed down the sentence to Mohamad Hasnizam Hussein, 33, after finding the defence had failed to raise any reasonable doubts in the prosecution’s case.

Another failed move by the U.S. government

After many failed attempts at getting the United States population to stop drinking and doing drugs, the government has failed again. One of the first attempts was during the years of prohibition. In an attempt to make the U.S. a “dry” nation, the government eliminated businesses that manufactured, distributed, and sold alcohol. Unfortunately, this did not stop people from drinking. Bootleggers, gangsters, rumrunners, and speakeasies began to take over society, making it possible for Americans to consume the banned alcohol they desired.

No more smoking in the Himalayas

Since 2005 Bhutan, a country fenced by the Himalaya Mountains, is struggling to stop its citizens smoking. Unlike the smoking bans in Europe where in several countries smoking was prohibited in public buildings, offices etc. Bhutan took the ban one step further making selling and smoking in public illegal. For a number of reasons the prohibition did not bring expected results. Accordingly, since 2011 a new enforcement policy came into life allowing police officers to enter private properties and search for illegal possessions.

The UK’s General Election, which has for the first time included televised debates on issues ranging from Britain’s place in the EU to support for care workers, has seen comparatively little attention given to drug policy. The prohibition of drugs is undeniably one of the most important economic and social influences in British society.

Deaths in custody in Italy for drug crime

Recently Italian justice has lost much of its credibility. Stefano Cucchi, a 31 year old Italian man, was arrested by Italian police for possession of a modest quantity of drugs. After a week in prison, he died in mysterious circumstances, but the terrible photos that show his battered body give us no doubt that the cause was a violent beating. Who is responsible for his absurd death?

While the The Popular People's Legalise Cannabis Protest Front of Britain Alliance continues to debate the differences in their goals and labels and argue over their approaches to the legalisation of cannabis, the Daily Mail readers, filled with misinformation and informed bigotry, go on the rampage, seeking to crucify any cannabis user they can lay their hands on.......................
