Ruth Kelly: Nice People Take Drugs

This card is one of a deck produced by Release to highlight politicians’ hypocrisy towards drug use.
Ruth Kelly voted for the reclassification of cannabis from class B to class C in 2003. However she went back on her original decision in 2008 and voted in favour of the reclassification of cannabis from Class C to Class B.
Ruth Kelly was appointed minister for Women and Equality, by Tony Blair despite the fact she is a devout Catholic and at the time had failed to support any gay rights issues for nine years. Although he said that the reason for her resignation in 2008 was to spend more time with her kids there were many rumours circulating that she left after clashing with Gordon Brown over fertility laws.
