To watch the documentary click here
Russia has one of the largest HIV epidemics in the world with an estimated 1 million people in Russia living with HIV of those over 80% of those infection (UNAIDS) were amongst drug users.
This documentary follows several different people in the city of Kalinigrad, some current drug users and some ex drug users all brought together by HIV and drug use. In a country where methadone substitution therapy and needle exchanges are not approved by the government (apparently it encourages drug use) it has meant that it has been hard to contain the HIV epidemic.
The documentary talks to HIV positive ex drug users about their stories and the work they are doing to help others, it also talks about the history of heroin and HIV in Kalinigrad and finally talks to current drug users.
